FILM & SUPER 8

capture your moments in the most timeless way

why should we include film?

Film has a way of capturing moments that feel real and honest. It’s not about perfection – it’s about preserving the raw, beautiful in-betweens that digital can sometimes miss.

There’s a certain nostalgia to film, a timeless quality that makes each photo feel like a memory. It’s tangible, authentic, and it brings a sense of artistry that digital just can’t replicate. If you’re looking for photos that feel genuine and timeless, film is the perfect choice.

what is super 8?

Super 8 is a vintage film format first introduced in the 1960s by Kodak, originally designed for home movies and personal storytelling. Its nostalgic, grainy look quickly became iconic, capturing memories with a cinematic feel that’s both timeless and emotive.

Super 8 captures movement with a soft, dream-like quality that feels like stepping back in time – like watching old home movies with a cinematic twist. Choosing Super 8 means embracing the imperfect beauty of real moments, recorded as they happen. It’s raw, nostalgic, and beautifully authentic.

HOW FILM inspires me

My journey with photography began with film – shooting on 120mm and 35mm, experimenting with light, and learning the art of storytelling frame by frame. I went to school for film and digital photography at Langara College, spending countless hours in the darkroom (which, honestly, was my favourite part). There’s just something about watching an image come to life on paper that feels like magic.

My editing style is deeply inspired by the look of film – the grain, the colors, the way it captures light with such honesty. It’s why I still love documenting moments on film today. There’s an authenticity to it, a rawness that can’t be replicated.

If you’re drawn to that timeless, nostalgic feel and want your story captured on film, let’s create something unforgettable together.

What’s the difference between 35mm, 120mm, and Super 8 film?

35mm film is the most classic and accessible type of film—great for capturing moments with a nostalgic, timeless feel. 120mm film, also known as medium format, gives you larger negatives, which means sharper images, more detail, and a dreamy, high-quality aesthetic. Super 8 is a vintage film format used for creating motion pictures. It has a distinct, cinematic look with grainy, nostalgic vibes that can really bring your love story to life in video.

Why should we add film to our package?

Adding film to your package brings a timeless, organic quality that digital just can’t replicate. It’s a slower, more intentional process, and the results are often more authentic and personal. Each roll of film carries its own unique character, with natural imperfections and stunning color renditions that give your photos a depth and soul. It’s a beautiful way to capture your moments in a way that feels real, raw, and full of life.

How many rolls of film do you shoot?

The number of rolls depends on your session’s length and what we’re capturing, but I typically shoot
around 2-3 rolls for an elopement or wedding and 1 roll for a portrait session. Each roll of film
provides a specific number of exposures, so it’s about quality over quantity! I’ll always make sure to get the most important moments, and I’ll never rush the process.

Can I choose which type of film you use?

I offer a selection of different film stocks, each with its own unique character—some with rich color
saturation, others with a soft, muted tone, or black & white (my favourite). I’ll work with you to pick the right one for your vibe! If you have a specific preference, just let me know, and I’ll make sure to include it.

What’s the turnaround time for film photos and video?

Film processing takes a bit longer than digital. For photos, the developing and scanning process typically takes 1-2 weeks, and I’ll include all your film scans in your final gallery. For Super 8 video, editing and processing can take 8-10 weeks—I’ll deliver a beautifully crafted film once it’s all ready to go.

Do I get digital copies of the film images?

Yes! After the film is developed and scanned, I’ll send you digital copies of the photos in your gallery.
These are high-quality scans that you can use to share with friends and family or print from. Wedding and elopement packages also include polaroid prints which will be mailed to you in a super cute thank-you parting gift.

Can we choose what moments are filmed on Super 8?

Yes! I love collaborating with you to capture the moments that mean the most. You can let me know which moments you’d like to be filmed on Super 8, and I’ll make sure to include them. It’s all about capturing your day in a way that feels true to your story.

How much Super 8 footage will you capture?

The amount of Super 8 footage varies depending on the package and what’s happening during your day.
Typically, I’ll aim to capture key moments like your ceremony, first look, or any intimate moments you’d
like to remember along with transitional moments between events. A typical Super 8 video runs between
2-3 minutes long.

How do we receive our Super 8 film?

Your Super 8 footage will be carefully edited into a stunning film and delivered to you as a digital file via a Google drive.
